He was predeceased by: his father Robert Horton; and his former wife Debra Fisher. He is survived by: his wife Carol; his children, Tova Rivera and Jesse Fisher; his grandchildren, Eliana, Josiah and Gabriel Rivera; his mother Janet Horton; and his sisters, Lori Miller and Angela Price.

“Dale was one of my biggest inspirations. He was the kindest and most loving physics professor on campus. He encouraged many of us to dive further into understanding physics and ultimately changed my life/career choice to one of physics. I gave him a hoodie with his quirky quotes when we parted ways and I am happy to have called him a friend. As Dale would remind us in class..
