With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Dorothy Byrd Brewer (Virginia Beach, Virginia), born in Norfolk, Virginia, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on March 9, 2026 at the age of 100. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Though Dorothy may no longer walk beside us, her memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Dorothy touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In her absence, her spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
She was predeceased by: her parents, John Edgar Mann and Dorothy Elenor Echols; her former husband Robert Melvin Rice; her husband Luther Milton Brewer, Jr.; and her stepdaughter Becky.
She is survived by: her children, Debbie Wilkerson (Bruce) and Ron Rice (Fran); and her stepdaughter Leslie Polen (Jeff). She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren.
