He is survived by: his wife Ashley Jardine McCain; his daughter Caroline McCain Hendrickson; his daughter-in-law Emily of Washington, D. C.; his son Douglas Shepp McCain Jr.; his daughter-in-law Ellie; his grandson Teddy of New York City; his mother Carol Shepp McCain of Virginia Beach; his brother Andy McCain; his sister-in-law Lucy of Phoenix; his sister Sidney McCain of Milwaukee; his stepmother Cindy McCain of Phoenix, AZ; his step-sibilings, Meghan, Jack, Jimmy and Bridget; his mother-in-law Sue Jardine of Mobile, AL; and his siblings-in-law, Quint, Kim Jardine of Point Clear, AL, Mimi Jardine and Dan Fairris of Blauzac, France. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, May 30th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Princess Anne Country Club (3800 Pacific Ave, Virginia Beach, VA 23451).
