She was predeceased by: her parents, James Hoar and Hazel Hoar; and her sister Loreana Gagnon. She is survived by: her sons, Stephen Van Wart and Matthew McEwen; and her grandchildren, Michael, Jamie, Jordan, Matthew, Erin, Zach, Bryce, Brooklyn and Skylar.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Helen Rice Scholarship Fund to support aspiring teachers.
