She was predeceased by: her parents, Jesse Spence and Fannie Spence; and her siblings, Norfleet, Dallas, Jessie Jr., Valroy, William Arthur Douglas, Celestee, Macedonia Baptist Church, Thelma Edwards and Pauline Spence Epps (Mediel W. Spence) of Hampton, Virginia.
She is survived by: her nephew Douglas; her godson Wardence Butler; and her friend Pam Walker. She is also survived by sister-in-law; a host of nieces and nephews.
She worked every day at the shop until the pandemic because she loved the people she worked alongside and the community she served.
Each year, she raised funds and collected donations so that students would have backpacks and supplies for the beginning of the school year.
