He was predeceased by: his parents, Mary Etta Cross Joyner and Arthur Joyner; his grandparents, Abraham, Eva Joyner, Virginia Cross Wills and George Cross; his adoptive parents, Ida Garvin and Fred Garvin; his brothers, Arthur Joyner, Earnest Joyner, Sr. and Abraham Joyner; and his nieces, Adienne Burgest and Brandy Baker.

He is survived by: his siblings, Michael Joyner (Virginia) of Portsmouth, Herman Babb of Easton, PA and Marinda Joyner; his aunt Cora Goodman; and his cousins, Alphonso Cross and Sylvia McClair (Kevin). He is also survived by one son; four grandchildren; one great grandchild; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
