He was predeceased by: his parents, Julius Sr. Hooker and Effie White Hooker; his wife Carolyn Buchanan Hooker; his stepson William "Bobby" Kittrell III; and his brother Melvin Hooker.
He is survived by: his children, Donna Grisby (David), Michael Hooker (Vanessa), Timothy Kittrell (Jackie) and Julie Steinhoff (Michael); his sister-in-law Helen Hooker; his grandchildren, Shane Grisby (Allison), Bryan Swain, Timothy Kittrell (Allison), Ryan Kittrell (Patricia) and Rilyn Kittrell; and his great grandchildren, Ian Swain, Kennedy Kittrell, Mckinly Kittrell, Ali Kittrell, Luke Kittrell and Taylor Kittrell.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 29th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Laskin Rd Chapel. A graveside service was held on Wednesday, September 30th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Princess Anne Memorial Park (1110 N Great Neck Rd, Virginia Beach, VA 23454).
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making a donation to the American Cancer Society.
