She was predeceased by: her parents, Decator "Tate" Austin and Olive Austin; her brother Gary Austin; and her father-in-law Fay "Gabby" Hayes. She is survived by: her husband David Hayes; her children, Matt Hayes (Tricia), Heather Burnett (Chris) and Lauren Hayes; her pet Magnolia; her grandchildren, Jackson of Virginia Beach, Virginia., Cameron of Virginia Beach, Virginia., Lily of Virginia Beach, Virginia. and Caroline of Virginia Beach, Virginia.; her siblings, Decator "Tate" Austin Jr. (Carol), Michael Austin (Bonnie) and Carolyn Culpepper (Herbert); her mother-in-law Audrey Hayes; and her siblings-in-law, Susie Austin and Steve Hayes (Stephanie). She is also survived by nieces, nephews, lifelong friends.
In honor of Karen's caring spirit, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Virginia Beach SPCA or the American Cancer Society.
