Del Kostanko wrote a sympathy message

“My condolences to his family on the loss of a great man. I served with “KR” in the Marines, he was my sergeant in the late ‘80’s. Our whole unit loved him, as he took good care of us younger Marines by mentoring us, keeping us in line, and leading by example. His big smile and deep laugh made being friends with him easy. He earned our loyalty and respect and he will be sorely missed. Godspeed KR. -Del Kostanko 2nd LAAD Bn, USMC 1985-1989”
