It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Phyllis Updike Cooper of Virginia Beach, Virginia, born in Rileyville, Virginia, who passed away on April 5, 2023, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Elbert B. Updike and Linda Updike (Sours); and her husband Billy T. Cooper. She is survived by: her daughter Karen Cooper Ebmeier (David); her granddaughters, Sarah Ebmeier Dale (Scott) and Rachel Ebmeier Thompson (Terris); her great grandchildren, Candice and Nathan Dale; her siblings, Joan Updike Blackwell, Lynn Updike Fracis, Holly Updike Harrison, Judy Updike Clore, Pat Updike Foster, Elbert B. Updike, Jr., Kirby Updike and Bruce Updike; and her friend Jeanette Tippett. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Arthritis Foundation.
