She was predeceased by: her parents, Virginia LeGrand Whitlock Cobb and James Orr Cobb; her brothers, James Orr Cobb, Jr. and Paul Whitlock Cobb; and her son-in-law Richard Allen Peterson.

She is survived by: her husband Richard McIlwaine Coupland (Mac); her daughters, Virginia Coupland (Lee), Ellen Coupland Cavitt (David) and Mary Coupland Peterson (David Millon); and her grandchildren, David Cavitt (Katie), Anne Schwarz (Jochen), Jenny Palisano (Nick), Matt Munden (Wendi), Nathan Munden (Yumiko), Cobb Peterson and Charlotte Peterson. She is also survived by ten great-grandchildren.
