She was predeceased by: her parents, Sidney Ricks and Eva J. Ricks Sr.; her husband George Gilbert Jr.; and her brother Sydney Ricks Jr. of Chesapeake, VA.. She is survived by: her children, George Gilbert III of Portsmouth, VA, Sheila Robinson of Portsmouth, VA and Regina McDonald (Miles) of Virginia Beach, VA; and her sisters, Juanita High of Norfolk, VA and Helen Ndueso (Peter) of Somerset, NJ. She is also survived by five grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
