He was predeceased by: his son Jaret Lakes; and his father William H Lakes, Sr.. He is survived by: his wife June; his son Josh; his daughter-in-law Krista; his grandchildren, Emma and Welsey; his mother Verlene June Lakes; and his sisters, Kim Lakes-Morman (Phil) and Anita Miller (Tim). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Billy's memory to The Ohio State University James Cancer Center.
