He was predeceased by: his parents, Martha Hamlin and Willie Tonkins; and his siblings, Wilbert "Coy", James "Gene", Willie Lee "Punch", Ralph Tonkins, Doris Hamlin, Josephine Gray, Gladys Debnam, Willie Ann "Honey" McBryde and Ruth "Billie" Jones.
He is survived by: his sister Vernell Butts of Smithfield; and his brother-in-law Anthony Jones of Hampton. He is also survived by nieces and nephews and friends.
