He was predeceased by : his parents, Benjamin Tanner, Sr. and Estelle Cephas Tanner. He is survived by : his wife Delores "Pie" Tanner; his children, Joseph Tanner (Lisa) and Dr. Tammy Webster (Quentin); his brothers-in-law, William Peyton, Jr. (Nettie) and Richard Peyton, Sr.; and his grandchildren, Shamica Williams, Joshua Williams, Alexia Webster and Amiya Webster. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
