With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Lewis John Turner D. Jr. (Warrenton, Virginia), who passed away on January 5, 2026 at the age of 88. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Jessie Miller Jones Turner and Lewis John Turner Sr. Raised; his sister Carolyn Gates Dewhirst; and his son Lewis John Turner III. He is survived by: his pets, Smoky, Dixie Beth, Willie and Molly; his wife Beth Lisle Turner; his children, Mary Lambeth Turner (Dave) of Santa Fe, William Lisle Hazel of Richmond, Virginia and Ann Darnell Abbott (Bill) of Halifax, Virginia; his grandsons, Lewis John Turner IV of Culpeper and Walker Abbott Lantor (Sam) of Raleigh; and his caregivers, Zach Jean, Angelle Campbell and Savannah Purvis. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in honor of John Turner to the Oak Shade Village Project at Little Fork Church, to preserve land of historical significance adjacent to the church. Donations can be made on the Little Fork website or checks made out to the 1776 Preservation Foundation can be mailed to the church at 16461 Oak Shade Road, P.O. Box 367, Rixeyville, Virginia 22737.
