He was predeceased by: his grandparents, William Otis, Winnie Gray, Rufus Evans and Emma Lohr; his mother Doris Lohr Gray; and his brother-in-law Todd Herndon.

He is survived by: his father James Robert "Jim" Gray (Mayola); his sisters, Naomi Herndon and Amy Barksdale (Chris); his stepsister Melanie Mitchell (Troy); his nieces, Ashley Abate (Joshua) and Abbie Barksdale; his nephew Colton Barksdale; his great-nephew Logan Herndon; and his great-nieces, Indy Abate and Salem Evans Abate.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The Bridges Program, PO Box 1568 Culpeper, VA 22701 which provided Nathan with daytime training, support, coaching, and skill-building activities.
