He was predeceased by: his parents, Jacob Murphy and Lucile Thomas Murphy; his son Sydney Stratton Murphy Jr.; and his sister LaVerna Taylor. He is survived by: his wife Clara Kenney Murphy; and his children, Maria L. Bevineau, Juan Murphy (Myra), Lisa Lawson, Joan Curtis and Leslie Allen (Tim). He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, twenty-nine Great Grandchildren, and two Great-Great Grandchildren.
