He is survived by: his daughter Stephanie Gray of Richmond, VA; his grandchildren, Tia A. Gray (Vince) of Glen Allen, VA and Mandel S. Gray (U. S. Army) of Fort Hood, TX; his siblings, Patricia C. Hill, Gracie B. Hill, Edward J. Hill, Reginial F. Hill (Janice) of Wakefield, VA, Deacon Margie D. Smith (Charles) of Waverly, VA and Mildred O. Taylor (Wilson Sr.) of Petersburg, VA; and his siblings-in-law, Rosa L. Gay of Wakefield, VA, William Gay, Jr., Donald L. Gay of Wakefield, VA and Melvin E. Gay of Bristol, VA. He is also survived by 22 nieces and nephews, 42 great nieces and nephews, and 26 great, great nieces and nephews; a host of cousins, and friends.
Viewing was held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM at the Peace Funeral Home (237 Railroad Ave, Waverly, VA 23890). A celebration of life was held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 at 3:00 PM at the Mars Hill A. M. E. Zion Church (111 Williams Ln, Wakefield, VA 23888).
