With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Bertie L. Ownby (Waynesboro, Virginia), who passed away on May 3, 2026 at the age of 87. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Daney C. Fridley and Emma Mae Fridley (McCutcheon); her husband Donald F. Ownby; and her siblings, Louise Crawford, Edith Fridley, Russell Fridley and Curtis Fridley.
She is survived by: her daughters, Glenda M. Ownby of Waynesboro and Donna O. Lawhorne of Waynesboro; her son-in-law David A. Lawhorne; her grandchildren, Ashley Lawhorne (Alex Childs) and Trey Lawhorne (Kaitlyn Quick); her great grandchild Charlie A. Childs; and her sister Fay Fisher. She is also survived by five nieces and six nephews.
