He was predeceased by: his parents, Wesley Tyson and Jennie Tyson Lewis; the mother of his children Jackie Tyson; and his brothers, Marion and Harry Tyson.

He is survived by: his wife Janice Tyson; and his children, Stephanie Failes (Pat) of Harrisonburg and Chris Tyson (Becky) of Clearbrook. He is also survived by three grandchildren; a great grandson; as well as extended family.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 26th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Wayne Hills Baptist Church (877 Ladd Rd, Waynesboro, VA 22980). A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 26th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
