With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Marie Sandy Schmitt of Waynesboro, Virginia, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on June 14, 2025 at the age of 86. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Paul Marshall Sandy and Ruth Marie Sandy (Priest); her husband Charles Anton Schmitt; and her sister Doris Jean Sandy. She is survived by: her children, Nancy Lynn Schmitt of Waynesboro and Gary Paul Schmitt (Marie Kilmarton Schmitt) of San Francisco, CA; her grandchildren, David Stushek of Appleton, WI, Kayele Stushek of Battle Ground, WA, Erin Stushek of Charlottesville, Dr. Sarah Schmitt of New York, NY, Benjamin Schmitt of Washington, D. C. and Emily Schmitt of San Francisco, CA; her great grandchild Jamison Stushek of Appleton, WI; her siblings, Mary Louise Sandy (Donald Oliver) of Poquoson, VA and Paul Marshall Sandy, Jr. (Sandra Williams Sandy) of Staunton; her nephew Ross Sandy (Heather); and also, Ashtyn Sandy and Easton Sandy.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Nancy L. Schmitt, 213 Robin Rd., Waynesboro, VA, 22980, to be used for a memorial in Marie's name.
