He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Jones and Ellie Kelly Jones; his siblings, Fred Jones, Bertha Bailey, Grace Willis and Doris Breeden; and his brother-in-law Frankie Fisher.
He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth "Betty" Jones; his sister Katherine Fisher of Stuarts Draft, VA; his nephews, Andy and Robbie Fisher; his children, Mellisa Fretwell (Steve) of Crimora, VA, Donna Turner (Randy) of Greenville, VA and Robert Jones (Kerri) of Milam, WV; his grandchildren, Stephanie Hensley (Ian), Ashley, Steven Fretwell, Garland Branch (Heather), Adrienne Underwood (Eric), Kristen Jamerson (Kevin), Timothy Jones (Ashley), Sierra (Jason), Shelby (Charles) and Tyler (Megan); his stepchildren, Denise Weaver (Richard) of Waynesboro, VA and Dennis Lambert (Sharon); and his stepgrandchildren, Victoria, Douglas and Daniel Lambert. He is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, October 1st 2025 from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Thacker Brothers Scottsville Funeral Home (650 Valley St, Scottsville, VA 24590). A graveside service was held on Thursday, October 2nd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Scottsville Cemetery (400 Hardware St, Scottsville, VA 24590).
