He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Salvatore Smedile and Edith May Gaskell Smith; and his siblings, Gloria Smedile, Adelyne Hayes, Barbara Sherba (Peter), Ruth Barrett (William) and Franklin Smedile.
He is survived by: his wife Fanny Smedile; his children, Robert Smedile (Daneen), Donna Lerner (Martin) and John Smedile; his stepchildren, John Wilson, Paulina Vargas (Jesus Almazan), Javier Vargas (Sarah Quinzu) and Veronica Vargas (Ahmed Mohamed); his grandchildren, Scott (Kit), Connor (Katie), Shea Smedile, Allison Peregoy (Devin), John Jr., Cherie Smedile, Garrett, Ty Salameno, Corey Gammon-Vargas, Jayden and Yaretzy Almazan; his brother Patrick Smedile (Ellen); and his niece Laura Paul-Badaracco. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren.
