With solemn reverence, we commemorate Shelby S. Higgs of Waynesboro, Virginia, born in Reidsville, North Carolina, whose life came to an end on September 21, 2025 at the age of 86, leaving behind cherished memories. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Bert Stewart Strickland and Gladys McKinney Strickland; and her siblings, Hilda Gammond, Bennie, David and Melvin Strickland.
She is survived by: her husband John Higgs; her children, Susan Higgs (Chad Miller) and Robert Higgs (Angela Higgs); her sisters, Vivian Pearson and Vanesa Souther; and her grandson Duncan Miller.
Viewing was held on Monday, September 29th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Barren Ridge Vineyards (984 Barrenridge Rd, Fishersville, VA 22939). A graveside service was held on Tuesday, September 30th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Thornrose Cemetery (1041 W Beverley St, Staunton, VA 24401).
