She was predeceased by: her parents, Earl R. Cave and Sarah Cave; and her brothers, Earl Cave and Alfred A. Cave. She is survived by: her husband Colonel Philip Smiley; her son Joseph E. Smiley (Nikki); her granddaughter Joie Rain; and her sisters-in-law, Tommye Cave and Janice Cave. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In Williamsburg, she was employed by the James City - Foundation and as a substitute teacher in the Williamsburg-James City County Public Schools.
