He was predeceased by: his parents, John Patrick Carey II and Marjorie Fleming Carey. He is survived by: his sisters, Fran Small and Eileen McGirl (Jack); his sister-in-law Cathy Vogel; his wife Virginia Vogel Carey; and his children, Shawn Carey (Carola Pisani), Amber Spicer (Hanes Spicer) and Navy Captain Ryan Carey (Sarah Lewis Carey). He is also survived by many nephews, nieces, cousins, and lifelong friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 3rd 2026 at 12:00 PM at the Saint Bede Catholic Church (3686 Ironbound Rd, Williamsburg, VA 23188).
