She was loved and cherished by many people including : her parents, Helen Smith and Archie Moore; her husband Jasper I. Gay; her children, Nicole "Renee" Gay and Jefferey "Seymour" Gay; her daughter-in-law Candyss Gay; her grandchildren, Mercy Williams and Samadhi "Sincere" Gay; her aunts, Carolyn Conyers and Barbara Royal; and her uncle Claude Mattocks. She was also cherished by other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Judy's favorite charity, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and/or the Hospice House and Support Care of Williamsburg.

“Jasper, I used to go to church with you two. I am so sorry for your (and anyone who knew her) loss. To know Judy was to know God's love. Judy was a joy to know and such a bright shining light for all to see Jesus in. Last time I saw her was at a school musical (at HMS in 2023) and she greeted me just the same as she used to when I saw her every week - with a hug and warmth and kind words.
