He was predeceased by: his mother Mary C. Burks; his sons, James Carlton Burks and David Leroy Burks, Jr.; and his brothers, Robert "Sunny" Burks, Sr. and Jack Burks.
He is survived by: his children, Dennis Eugene Burks of South Riding, Anne Carter Burks of Atlanta, GA and Ryan David Burks of Maurertown, VA. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be held on Friday, October 10th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church (1317 S Pleasant Valley Rd, Winchester, VA 22601). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 10th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Mount Carmel Baptist Church (1317 S Pleasant Valley Rd, Winchester, VA 22601). A burial will be held on Friday, October 10th 2025 at the Orrick Cemetery (1301 S Braddock St, Winchester, VA 22601).
