She was predeceased by: her parents, William Dye Petersen and Lillian Petersen (Hansen); her former husband Laurence "Sonny" Butterfield; her husband Howard Merlis; her close friend Jerry Payne; her children, Cheryl K. Jones and Tedd L. Butterfield; and her siblings, Carolyn Belle Isle, Dennis Petersen and Kenneth Petersen.
She is survived by: her children, Cynthia "Cindy" S. Butterfield, Jodi L. Jung, Todd W. Butterfield (Christine Ware) and Jason W. Merlis (Kelly Ross). She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren, many loving nieces and nephews.
In honor of Suzie's love for animals, the family suggests that any memorial contributions be made to a local animal rescue or shelter of your choice.
