He was predeceased by: his father Richard Kern, Sr.; and his sister Ann Douglas Kern. He is survived by: his mother Gertrude Golightly Kern; his wife Ameliene "Emmy" Bossung Kern; his daughters, Bridget Kenney, Katherine "Katie" Mae Kern and Kelsie Claire Kern; and his siblings, Alison Trevino (Ray) and Richard D. Kern, Jr. (Biz). He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
A memorial service was held on Monday, July 21st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Amherst Chapel (1600 Amherst St, Winchester, VA 22601). A burial was held on Monday, July 21st 2025 at the Mount Hebron Cemetery (305 E Boscawen St, Winchester, VA 22601).
