We announce the death of Wanda P. Scannell of Winchester, Virginia, who passed away on October 19, 2026, at the age of 89. She was predeceased by: her parents, Ras Theodore Wolford and Mary Louise Wolford (Pitcock); her spouse Thomas Gene Scannell; her son-in-law David Hart; and her siblings, Frances Wright, Nancy Wolford and Dennis Wolford.
She is survived by: her daughters, Melinda Hart (late David), D'Ann Kenney (Kevin), Tommie Hobbs (Chuck) and Kelly Ricker (Jerry); her grandchildren, Samantha Hart, Ian Kenney and Kylie Ricker; her great grandchildren, Trevor Hobbs, Brooklyn Canby and Sarah Kenney; and her great great grandchildren, Maverick Canby, Iris Canby and Reese Hobbs.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 29th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Amherst Chapel (1600 Amherst St, Winchester, VA 22601). A reception will be held on Thursday, October 29th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Thursday, October 29th 2026 at the Mount Hebron Cemetery (305 E Boscawen St, Winchester, VA 22601).
