He is survived by: his daughter Nancie Garth of Charlottesville; his granddaughter Sarah Fitzgerald (Jonathan); his great grandchildren, Avery, Riley, Jackson and Eliza of Earlysville, Virginia.; his granddaughter Katie Leach (J. J.); his great grandchildren, Jack, Hudson, Elsie and Annabel of Bumpass, Virginia.; his son Richard W; his grandson Nick (Molly); his great grandchildren, Mattea, Samuel and Henry of Los Angeles; and also, Kimberly Gilmore (Matthew), Noah, Dylan, William of El Segundo and Christopher (Brittny) of Phoenix, Arizona..
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Fellowship Fund at Westminster Canterbury, or Blue Ridge Hospice, or the School of Engineering at Michigan State University.
