It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Raby Franklin Mays of Windsor, Virginia, who passed away on March 13, 2023, at the age of 79, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by : his parents, Mary Thelma Lassiter and Raby Rufus Mays; his wife Patricia Howell Mays; and his brother Clarence Mays. He is survived by : his children, Timothy R. Mays (Nicole) and Stephanie Deemer (Kevin); his granddaughter Abigal Deemer; his siblings, David Mays (Susan), Robert Mays and Lori Burfield (Al); his sister-in-law Phyllis Mays; and his step-children, Stephen Layne (Eileen), Philip Layne (Sandra), Jimmy Layne, David Layne, Virginia Gay Houser and Twila Depasquale.

Visitation was held on Friday, March 17th 2023 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service was held on Saturday, March 18th 2023 at 11:00 AM at the Community Baptist Church (270 Old Burrough Rd, Elberon, VA 23846). A burial was held on Saturday, March 18th 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Newman Memorial Cemetery (5641 Godwin Blvd, Suffolk, VA 23434).
