With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Robert Daniel Goerger of Windsor, Virginia, born in Indianapolis, Indiana, who passed away on May 9, 2026 at the age of 79. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his wife Sue W. Goerger; his brothers, Thomas F. Goerger and James N. Goerger, Jr.; and his parents, James N. Goerger and Margaret W. Goerger.
He is survived by: his children, Melanie Dawn Goerger Taylor (Bryan) and Kevin Daniel Goerger (Catharine); his grandson Samuel James Goerger; his brother Richard W. Goerger (Debbie); and his sister-in-law Fran Smith (Gary). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held on Friday, May 15th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Smithfield Baptist Church (100 Wainwright Dr, Smithfield, VA 23430). Visitation was held on Friday, May 15th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Friday, May 15th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Woodland United Methodist Church (20051 Orbit Rd, Windsor, VA 23487).
