She was predeceased by: her parent Hargis Ely. She is survived by: her mother Thelma Wampler Ely; her husband Howard "Spanky" Gilliam; and her siblings, Ron Ely (Barbara), Reeta Fletcher, Rollie Shaw and Regina Gullion. She is also survived by other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Ruth's honor to St. Charles Baptist Church, 188 Big Branch Road, St. Charles, VA 24282.
