“Mr. Fear was an amazing teacher. I am so grateful to have learned the art of photography from a man who took so much joy and had so much passion in creating it. Our darkroom wasnt a space where only film was developed--its where friendships were developed, a forever family was formed, and our music taste were enhanced. He had a way of bringing the past/present together as many graduating Suitland students would always come back to to see him and share their own art successes. He will be missed.”

He played James Brown and country folk music when he was in a good mood. He introduced us to Gordon Parks and shared his collection of daguerreotypes and antique cameras. His classroom was a safe space where we all began to dream big visions for our future. Today I am a photography teacher trying to be half as good as the legend we called Mr. Fear.”
