He was predeceased by: his father Harold Eley; his sisters, Wanda Richardson and Spring Eley; his grandparents, Nanette Carter and Arthur Carter; his stepfather Ronald Marx; and his pets, Nakia, Rotc and Stella.

He is survived by: his wife Dianne Carolyn Eley; his children, Howard Reid Eley (Riley) and Stephanie Marie Eley; his mother Theora Marx; his brother Harold O'Neil (LuAnn); his nieces, Nicole Rene Eley-Carr (Eric), Erin Marie Eley Perrin (Lonnie II) and Allison Joi Theora Richardson; and his brother-in-law Nathaniel Richardson. He is also survived by extended family members and friends.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, October 30th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Altmeyer Funeral Home-Denbigh (12893 Jefferson Ave, Newport News, VA 23608).
