She was predeceased by: her father Dr. Walter Gant of Nashville, TN.; and her parents-in-law, Howard P. Short and Shirley D. Short of Smithfield. She is survived by: her husband Forrest P. Short of Smithfield, VA.; her mother Barbara Gant; her stepdaughter Ainsley L. Short; her sisters, Cindy Ball and Patricia Bentley; her brother-in-law Mason Ball; her siblings' children, Barbara Lee Ball, Robert Lee Ball, Michael Lee Bentley and Austin Lee Bentley; and her pets, Harley and Mittens.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 11th 2025 at 4:00 PM at the Northside Christian Church (1300 George Washington Memorial Hwy, Yorktown, VA 23693).
In lieu of flowers, Jean request contributions be made to the Northside Christian Church Children's Ministry.
