He was predeceased by: his parents, Emma Owens and William Owens; his siblings, Harold Owens and Cora Thomas; and his daughter Stephanie Strack.

He is survived by: his wife Betty Owens; his daughter Jennifer Jenkins (Dale); his grandchildren, Cameron and Grace; his son-in-law Bruce Strack; his grandchildren, Hunter and Morgan; and his great grandchild Avery. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
