We announce the death of Sonia McMurray of Yorktown, Virginia, born in Poquoson, Virginia, who passed away on May 28, 2026, at the age of 57. She was predeceased by: her father Alvoid Shackelford, Jr.. She is survived by: her husband Mark Montague; her nephew David Shackelford; her mother Freda Shackelford; her children, Matthew Foster (Bethany), Edward McMurray (Jade), Shandi McMurray, Dominique Montague and Ashley Montague; her grandchildren, Mariah McMurray, Miona Jackson, Joshua Sadler, Jr., Addison McMurray and Alexander Montague; and her siblings, Alvoid Shackelford III (Beverly), Jeffery Shackelford (Robin), Rose McMurray (Darren), Julie Freeman (William) and Johnny Shackelford (Amy). She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
