She was predeceased by: her parents, Catherine Craib McPherson and Allan McPherson; her siblings, Mickey (Allan), Sydney, Kay, Nettie, Flora and Margaret; her husband John Mekkelsen; and her son John.

She is survived by: her close friend Edna Tofani; her children, Jane Mekkelsen, Connie Cherrier (Larry) and Bruce Mekkelsen (Laurie); her great grandchildren, Liam and Aiden Doyle; Bruce and Laurie Mekkelsen. She is also survived by nieces, nephews.
