He was predeceased by: his parents, Betty Ballou and Dean Gilbert; and his sister Laura Gilbert. He is survived by: his wife Nancy Gilbert; his daughters, Betsy Memmolo (Mark), Rose and Karen Donegan (Chris); and his grandchildren, Max and Charlie. He is also survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, former students, friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 1st 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Hooker Whitcomb Funeral Home (7 Academy St, Barre, VT 05641).
