It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Austin John Sumner (Burlington, Vermont), who passed away on August 30, 2025, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
Though Austin may no longer walk beside us, his memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Austin touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In his absence, his spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
He is survived by: his daughter Charlotte Jane; his stepson Austin John Donald; his wife Jane; his grandchildren, Isabel, Lissy, Katie and Austin Raj; and his daughters-in-law, Amita and Jennifer.
After being awarded a Nuffield Foundation Post Doctoral Traveling Fellowship in 1968, Austin and Jane moved to London for neurology training at National Hospital for Nervous Diseases, Queen Square.
