With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Irene Lillian Cross of Colchester, Vermont, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on March 22, 2026 at the age of 96. As we bid Irene farewell, let us not mourn the absence of her physical form, but rather celebrate the essence of her spirit that lingers in the spaces between moments. For Irene is not truly gone, but merely transformed, her energy intertwined with the fabric of the universe itself, forever dancing among the stars.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Orlin Cochran and Ella Cochran (Armstrong); her son Matthew Cross; her son-in-law Butch Burditt; and her granddaughter Abbey Beth Cross.
She is survived by: her children, Dayle Burditt, Stephen Cross, Martha Anderson (Clay), Lil Cross (Deb) and Shawn Cross (Carol); her daughter-in-law Alice Cross; and her daughter Irene. She is also survived by five grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren.
