He was predeceased by: his parents, John Groff and Mary Groff (Hines); his former wife Carol Groff (Gardner); his wife Bertha Groff (Dubuque); and his son John Groff.
He is survived by: his children, Susan Benoit (Edward), Beverly Noble (Bruce), Regina Smith, Trudy Hallett, Loren A. Groff (Vicky), Reginald Kirby and Michael Kirby; his siblings, David Elphinstone of Arizona and Mary Rees of Michigan; and his pet Bella. He is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
