He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis Faxon Merrill and Helen Akeson Merrill; his former wife Eleanor Merrill; his brother Robert Merrill; and his son-in-law Charles Tubbs.
He is survived by: his wife Charlotte Merrill of Pomfret; his children, Peter Merrill (Elyse Holsberg-Merrill) of Quechee, VT, Rebecca Brinkley (Jack) of Asheville, NC, Abigail Tubbs of Dallas and Jonathan Merrill (Abigail) of Bedford, TX; and his grandchildren, Melissa, Nicholas, Casey, Donovan, Kathryn, Benjamin, Eleanor and Olivia. He is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren; multiple in-laws, many nieces and nephews; and many friends.
A Mass was held on Friday, September 11th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the St. Anthony Church (15 Church St, White River Junction, VT 05001).
