He was predeceased by: his parents, Roger Phillips and Ruth Phillips (Franz); and his sister Barbara Phillips. He is survived by: his wife Kathryn Alice Small (Kass); his sons, Tim and Nathan; his daughter-in-law JoAnn; his granddaughters, Rachael and Katie; and his brothers, David (Fran) and Carl (Anne).
