It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Joan Ames Carpenter of Newport, Vermont, born in Derby, Vermont, who passed away on February 7, 2024, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by : her parents, Roy Ames and Alice Ames (Vinton); her spouse Carroll D. Carpenter; and her siblings, Jessie Hamblett and Lyndol Ames.

She is survived by : her children, Sue Carpenter and Robert Carpenter; her daughter-in-law Julie Carpenter; and her grandchildren, Holly Jo Maniatty and Colton Carpenter. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
