He was loved and cherished by many people including: his mother Alzheimers (Jim); his spouse Laurel Higgins; his children, Linden, Tom, Chandler and John; his grandchildren, Haley, Lauren, Gailin, Mynard and Rebekah; his stepgrandchildren, Jonathon and Ashleigh; and his great grandchild Penelope.

In the laboratory, Jim made major contributions to medical science.
